I recently joined Lapse and have been enjoying it in a similar way, but you can open it at any time — there's no time prompt like there is with BeReal. It's supposed to have a 90s film photo vibe. When you take a photo, you can't view it until later, when it's "developed," then you can choose if you want to share it or not.

I wonder if you might like the podcast Off the Grid which is about running a creative business without social media. The person who does Off the Grid also has a podcast editing and audio editing small business.
I have been thinking if this feels like old school social media to me and it really doesn't. Even when I was using sites like LiveJournal and MySpace, I was interacting with a lot of ppl who were strangers to me, so it always felt like performing for people I didn't even know.
Ah, that's so interesting how your experience was with strangers right away on social media. I had a xanga blog with my 3 online friends reading it and that's it. And Facebook also was just ten people I knew in real life for a while. When it became more public, I stopped sharing.

With BeReal, you can also open it anytime to view your "feed" but you're only prompted to take a photo once a day.
