Interesting! I've seen screenshots of BeReal, but didn't think I knew anyone using it. I recently joined Lapse and have been enjoying it in a similar way, but you can open it at any time — there's no time prompt like there is with BeReal. It's supposed to have a 90s film photo vibe. When you take a photo, you can't view it until later, when it's "developed," then you can choose if you want to share it or not.

That sounds really cool!

With BeReal, you can also open it anytime to view your "feed" but you're only prompted to take a photo once a day.

Hi Carmella, love this! Reminds me of what social media used to be like for me as a teen. I wonder if you might like the podcast Off the Grid which is about running a creative business without social media. The person who does Off the Grid also has a podcast editing and audio editing small business.

Cool! I'll check it out!

I have been thinking if this feels like old school social media to me and it really doesn't. Even when I was using sites like LiveJournal and MySpace, I was interacting with a lot of ppl who were strangers to me, so it always felt like performing for people I didn't even know.

Ah, that's so interesting how your experience was with strangers right away on social media. I had a xanga blog with my 3 online friends reading it and that's it. And Facebook also was just ten people I knew in real life for a while. When it became more public, I stopped sharing.
